The National Blood Authority (NBA) is a statutory authority within the Australian Government`s health portfolio established by the National Blood Authority Act 2003 to manage and coordinate arrangements for the supply of blood and blood products and services on behalf of the Australian Government and the state and territory governments. The role of Assistant Director, Patient Blood Management, includes overseeing and managing projects related to the development, review, implementation and evaluation of clinical practice guidelines and related implementation strategies for the Australian blood sector. Many of these projects are based on processes that are currently evolving and require a project manager who can adapt to a variety of established and emerging methods. All NBA leaders are expected to actively and voluntarily participate in high-level organizational responsibilities and administrative support activities. Officers are required to act flexibly and exercise superior leadership qualities, as well as to directly perform lower-level independent work, if necessary, to do the work. This reflects the nature of the NBA as a relatively small specialized agency and our limited ability to fill vacancies for short periods of time within the limits of available financial and human resources. To account for these circumstances, the NBA`s corporate agreement provides for an annual payment of $1,000 to executives, subject to certain conditions.
